How do I setup Tax Exemption?

Setting up Tax Exemption

Download and submit Tax Exempt form(s) based on your tax-exempt type (ex. Reseller) for the state(s) to which you are seeking sales tax exemption

Complete the appropriate tax-exempt forms based on the ship-to state where you are seeking a tax exemption. Tax exempt forms have been pre-populated to include Williams-Sonoma DTC, Inc. (U.S. online sales excluding TX), Williams-Sonoma DTC TX (TX online sales), and Williams-Sonoma Stores, Inc. (in-store tax exempt purchases).

Online Sales Purchasing

For online sales (Williams-Sonoma DTC, Inc.), email all pages of completed tax exempt forms and/or permits to traderegistration@wsgc.com. Please include your name, company name, and membership ID within the email. Only one set of documents is required per firm.

Retail Sales Purchasing

For retail sales (Williams-Sonoma Stores, Inc.) in our stores, please present a copy of your signed Resale Certificate to an associate.

How do I renew an expired Tax Exemption certificate?

In those states, such as Florida, where your tax-exempt form will expire annually, you will need to ensure that an updated tax-exempt form is submitted on a timely basis to avoid any disruption to your tax-exempt status.

To renew, please submit an updated tax-exempt form prior to expiration of your current certificate along with your full name, company name, and membership ID within an email to: traderegistration@wsgc.com.

1.) Download and complete a tax exemption form for each ship-to state

To make a tax-exempt purchase as a federal government agency in state(s) which you are qualified to do so, please download and complete the following Tax Exemption form. Download a separate form for each eligible state you wish to ship to. The states not listed below are ineligible for this tax exemption type.

2.) Gather additional required documents.

To satisfy the state taxing authority requirements and our tax policy needs, a completed copy of the tax exempt form(s) along with a copy of your federal agency documentation or organization letterhead should be provided.

How do I register as a tax-exempt Hospitality business?

Hospitality Tax Exemption

1.) Download and complete a tax exemption form for Puerto Rico.

To make a tax-exempt purchase related to the hospitality industry in Puerto Rico (PR), which is related to hotel and travel industry customers, please download and complete the following Tax Exemptions Form.

2.) Gather additional required documents.

To satisfy the state taxing authority requirements and our tax policy needs, a completed copy of the PR tax exempt form along with a copy of the Merchant’s Registration Certificate and any other document evidencing the exemption requested should be provided. Other documentation could be, for example the grant, endorsement letter issued by the Tourism Company, and certification issued by the Department of Treasury.

3.) Submit completed tax exemption form(s) and required documentation.
